We’re Here!

We made it to Philly!  And let me tell you, this city if electric, and the congress of families has not even started, nor is the Pope even in the country yet!  Everyone is just abuzz about the Pope’s visit and the 17+ thousand faithful attending the World Meeting of Families. We went to the convention center today to check-in, and it was so neat seeing people from various countries – kids and adults, families together – laughing, singing, and dancing. This is unlike anything I have ever witnessed, and this was just check-in. People of so many different backgrounds and cultures – all here for the love of the family.

The drive in was so cool, and you could sense the excitement as we got closer to the convention center. Signs and billboards promoting the WMOF and Pope Francis. Driving through China town as we approached the convention center – so many people from different cultures with their green badges and backpacks, t-shirts, and smiles on their faces. So happy to be here. The signs about street closings and what to expect, and extremely helpful volunteers. This means so much to this city, and to this country. We are so blessed.

I think Joseph is starting to get excited. He doesn’t yet know what to expect from the Youth Congress, but he is sensing the excitement surrounding the Pope visiting, and you can tell that he is understanding the importance. This is truly going to be an amazing event.

Tomorrow the conference kicks off in the afternoon with an opening ceremony followed by a keynote from Bishop Robert Barron, and then a welcome/opening Mass. I cannot wait to share with you thoughts about the environment, atmosphere,  overall feeling tomorrow as things get underway and the wisdom that Bishop Barron has for us. I truly feel that the world has come to Philadelphia, and we are so blessed to be a part of this event.

God Bless
